Spray and Stretch Technique

The medium and fine streams are also intended for use as a counterirritant in the management of myofascial pain, restricted motion, and muscle tension.

The spray and stretch technique can quickly alleviate acute pain and restricted ROM due to muscle trigger points. The application of a vapocoolant acts as a counter-irritant to myofascial pain due to muscle spasm and trigger points. The use of the spray and stretch technique has a wide and varied application. It can be used as a stand alone modality or in conjunction with many forms of hands-on body work.

Important Risk and Safety Information for Gebauer's Ethyl Chloride®:

Inhalation should be avoided as it may produce narcotic and general anaesthetic effects, and may produce deep anaesthesia or fatal coma or cardiac arrest. Do not spray in eyes. Over spraying may cause frostbite. Freezing may alter skin pigmentation. The thawing process may be painful and freezing may lower resistance to infection and delay healing. Cutaneous sensitization may occur, but appears to be extremely rare. Long term exposure may cause liver or kidney damage. Rx only.
